I felt that finding the primary sources may have felt harder than finding the secondary sources because I did not know what to look for. I had to go through the same process I did with the secondary sources. I did this and found a couple of novels that I thought looked right however they were not even close to what I needed. That is why it took me a while to post, I was looking for something I already had. When I found my secondary sources I had not realized that within those sources were my primary sources.
One of my primary sources talks about two Native American children who were servants. Their parents later went to the home in which they were working to reclaim them which leads to the murder the family. After the murder of the family the Native Americans try to contact their allies in hope that they can escape before getting caught. This book it important because it talks about the harsh realities that the children of Native Americans faced, they were forced to be servants, although it was to a good family it should not be tolerated. They were also taken away from their parents, it was a power struggle between adults that children had to endure. It shows us cruel experiences that Native Americans had to face during and after colonization.

I also found another novel that focused on Native Americans during the French and Indian war also know as the Seven year war. It is a story about a white woman falling in love with a Native American. It is interesting because this woman turns down a Major who is jealous of her new relationship. Eventually they are all capable by the tribe to be murdered. One gets shot, the other jumps of a cliff and they save one.
What I like about two of my primary sources is that it shines a light on both parties. No one party was a victim they both killed people for power. Regardless of what happened before this or after, none of them had the right to take the life of another human being.

I appreciated your reflections on the process of finding primary sources! Early on in your post, you mention that you found a few books that looked right at first, but did not end up being close to what you needed. I'm curious about the criteria you used to make this discernment, and am wondering what it was about the sources you found that made them seem like they would be initially helpful. How did you figure out that they weren't what you were looking for?
